Emily Wolcott, Flute

Band Director, Greenbrier Middle School

Emily Wolcott is a New Englander transplanted to Virginia. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Old Dominion University in 2022 and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Music Education. While at Old Dominion, Emily performed with the Wind Ensemble, the Flute Choir, acted as the Undergraduate Assistant to the Marching Band, and studied flute with Patti Watters.

Emily is in her second year as Director of Bands at Greenbrier Middle School in Chesapeake, Virginia, where she teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Bands as well as Jazz Band, and is a Marching Band assistant at both Indian River High School and Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake.

She has performed with the Virginia Wind Symphony since 2021, most notably at the 2023 VMEA Conference in Richmond, Virginia.

Prior to teaching band, Emily taught English at Gildersleeve Middle School in Newport News, Virginia. Emily lives in Virginia Beach with her two children. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and kayaking.
