Lyndsey Eskins, Percussion

Band Director, Independence Middle School

Lindsey Eskins is the Director of Bands at Independence Middle School. She holds the Masters of Music Education degree from Old Dominion University. During her time at ODU, she was a staff member with the ODU Marching Monarchs and a graduate conductor of the ODU Wind Ensemble. She holds the Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She currently performs with the Virginia Wind Symphony.

Ms. Eskins has over ten years of experience teaching band in the public schools of North Carolina and Virginia. She serves as the VBODA District II Band Auditions Chairperson, as well as the percussion coordinator for the event. She also serves as the percussion coordinator of the Virginia Beach All-City Band. Lindsey is an alumnus member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a women's music fraternity, and a current member of Pi Kappa Lambda, a collegiate American honor society of music. She is an active member of the National Association of Music Education, as well as Women Band Directors International.

Lindsey presented a technology session at the North Carolina Music Educators Conference in 2016, the Virginia Music Educator's Conference in 2016, and the Midwest Clinic in 2017, an International Band and Orchestra Conference. In 2020, Ms. Eskins presented a session about teaching strategies for students with special needs at the Virginia Music Educator's Conference. She performed at the Midwest Clinic in 2018 as a member of the Virginia Wind Symphony.

During her time at Independence Middle School, bands have received "superior" ratings at the District II Concert Band Assessment. Ms. Eskins was awarded "Teacher of the Year" of the 2020-2021 School Year.
